Each member except Student Members shall be entitled to a certificate of membership signed by the Chairman and the Secretary of the Society: it shall remain the property of the Society and be returned on demand. Each member requesting a certificate shall pay the price thereof.
Abbreviations of the titled to be used by members shall be as follows:

Honorary member
All nominations for election to Honorary membership shall be referred to a Committee chaired by Executive Committee which shall screen nominations and recommend action to the full Board.
A nomination for Honorary membership shall include the following information:

Fellow Member
All nominations for election to Fellow membership shall be referred to a Committee appointed by the Executive Committee which shall review the nominations and make recommendations to the Annual General Meeting. Final election to Fellow will be action of the Annual General Meeting with ratification by the Executive Committee.
A nomination for Honorary membership shall include the following information:

Member
A candidate for admission to the grade of member of the Society should list as reference two Senior Members or Members who have personal knowledge of his or her qualifications.
Associate Member
A candidate admission to the Society as Associate Member should list as reference at least two members who have personal knowledge of the candidate's qualifications and at least of whom shall be a Senior member or Member.
Affiliate Member
A candidate for admission to the grade of Executive Affiliate or Affiliate should list as references at least two persons who have knowledge of his or her qualifications.
Student Member
A candidate for admission in the Society as a Student Member must be endorsed by the head of the engineering department or qualified academic staff member and the endorser should preferably be a member of the Society in Good standing.
